The photo that didn’t make it
February 8th, 2011 | by Marcus Rosetta |Heres a great picture from Wednesdays District 8 senior boys basketball game that did not make it in Thursdays edition of the Waterloo Region Record. The reason Phil Walkers picture didnt get in was because the final score wasnt reported. So despite the fact we knew this was Alex Thompson (20) and Adam Voll of the St. Marys Eagles playing tough defence against Cam Lasovich of the St. David Celtics, the picture didnt get in. I experienced a similar problem only one day earlier when the score of Tuesdays WCSSAA girls hockey game between SJAM and Jacob Hespeler wasnt reported. Please coaches — you volunteer your time to be a part of high school athletics . . . take the extra couple of minutes to report your scores. There really is a lot of interest.
In the meantime, does anyone know who won this game? I was on the way to cover it but was involved in a little fender bender that prevented me from making it.
Meanwhile, the Resurrection Phoenix clinched first in the D8 standings with a 73-39 win over the Rockway Flames. The Phoenix will take on the St. Benedict Saints in one D8 semifinal, while St. Marys and St. David will hook up again in the other. The championship game will be played next Friday night at Resurrection.
St. David grad Bryson Johnson continues to dazzle with the Bucknell Bison of the NCAAs Patriot League.
The second-year guard is now fourth in Division 1 three-point shooting percentage, hitting on 47.3 per cent of his attempts. He has converted 69 of 146 after Wednesday nights 66-60 win over American University.
Nemanja Mitrovic of Portland leads with a 48.3 per cent average, hitting 70 of 145 shots.
