Great picture by Peter Lee in today’s Record of St. Benedict’s Anne Logo, who at four-foot-10 is the the smallest player in the District 8 senior girls league.

It was a rough start for the Waterloo Region competitors at the OFSAA Golf Festival in Barrie.
CWOSSA champion Brett Maue of Waterloo-Oxford opened the two-day event with a disappointing 11-over 83 at the Barrie Country Club and sits in a tie for 61st going into today’s second round. Toronto’s Brandon Ng fired a blistering 5-under 67 and is the only player on the south side of par. Ng has a six-shot lead.
The St. David foursome of Matt LeMay (81), Kurt Mohaupt (83), Luke Moser (91) and Jason Watchorn (79) also struggled.
At the very bottom of the leader board, James Brown of Fort Frances shot a 46-over 118, a round that included two quintuple bogeys, two quads and four triples.
Been there Mr. Brown and feel your pain.

No real surprises in Wednesday’s three senior football games, but it’s somewhat surprising to see Elmira suffer a one-sided 24-0 loss to Bluevale.
Lancers coach Steve Karn was expecting big things from his squad this year but the team is now 1-3 on the season with two of its three remaining games against top-drawer teams in Cameron Heights and SJAM. Jacob Hespeler is next up for Elmira.
In Wednesday’s other games, Glenview Park edged St. David 27-24 and St. Mary’s topped KCI 17-10.
